Prior Applying

Prior to applying for study permit, it is important to first apply and get admitted to an eligible school at primary, secondary level. Once you get hold of the admission letter (Letter of acceptance) in your hand from that school in Canada, you are free to apply for a Canadian Study Permit.

International students can pursue courses at the undergraduate, post graduate levels. Some even opt to do their doctorates and post doctorates in Canadian universities as they not only offer world class standard and facilities but even handsome grants.

As for the process of admission, the international student first applies to the institute from outside of Canada. On receipt of “Letter of Acceptance” the student applies for a Student Permit. Once the student permit is stamped, the student is eligible to travel to Canada.

Many students wish to earn money while studying to offset the fee so that they are not putting pressure on their parents or loved ones back home. Students are permitted to apply for a Work Permit at the port of entry, which could be land border or airport. They are legally permitted to work for 20 hours per week. They my work for more hours however limited to 40 hours during holidays.

IRCC insist that students prove “self-sufficiency” in terms of meeting the funds requirement for the first year of their studies. It is the first-year fee plus C$10,000.00 deposit in a Canadian Bank.
