Super Visa Immigration

The Federal Government of Canada has tailored a special type of visa for Parents & Grandparents of Permanent residents or Canadian citizens which allows them to unite with families and lets them stay in Canada for longer period.

Generally, under this program applicants get a 10-year multiple entry visa, and the visa holder can stay for up to 5 years at a time in Canada.

Difference between the parent and grandparent super visa and guest visa:

With Temporary Resident Visa (Tourist Visa), most guests may visit Canada for a maximum period of 6 months when they initially enter Canada and need to apply for an extension if they wish to remain longer. This causes undue anxiety to the sponsor as well as the visitors as extensions may or may not be granted.

In the case of the Parents and Grandparents Super-Visa, qualified parents and grandparents can visit their family in Canada for as long as five years without the need to renew their status. The Super-Visa may be extended for a further period of 2 years if needed. Thus, it allows the holders to stay continuously for as long as 7 years in a row.

Eligibility:

  1. Sponsors Qualification: Must be above the age of 18 years, be either a Permanent Resident or a Canadian citizen.
  2. Income Prerequisite: Must meet LICO (Low Income Cut-Off) level in the last 3 years and must have filed taxes in Canada.
